Mastering the Reiki Meditation, by Brian Brunius

These two audio recordings, below, accompany the book Mastering the Reiki Meditation: Stabilizing Attention in Usui’s Reiki, published by the Koshin Reiki Association in 2026.

They are offered as a focusing aid to support steady, daily practice.

The structure presented in the book is complete on its own. The guided versions are not required. They exist for those who benefit from hearing the cadence and pacing of the descent of the Reiki light through the body’s energy channels.

Two versions are provided:

The Essential 10-Minute Meditation

This recording follows the concise daily structure given in Part I of the Koshin Reiki Association booklet, Mastering the Reiki Meditation. It may be used to establish rhythm in the morning or to reestablish stability when time is limited.

Ten minutes practiced consistently is sufficient.

Listen when needed.
Practice daily.

The Complete 20-Minute Meditation

This longer version reflects the complete form outlined in Part III of the Koshin Reiki Association booklet, Mastering the Reiki Meditation. It moves slowly through preparation, descent, seika tanden stabilization, and remaining in stillness, silence, and open space. It concludes with the Reiki Precepts.

Set aside twenty minutes.
Move through it without rushing.
Return the next day.

About These Recordings

As taught by John Harvey Gray in the early 1990s

This meditation was taught to Brian Brunius by his Reiki teacher, John Harvey Gray, who received it from Hawayo Takata. Takata received her training from Chujiro Hayashi, a direct student of Mikao Usui.

Each generation has entered the same disciplined practice of drawing the light downward and remaining steady beneath it.

These recordings are offered within that continuity.

They are not performance.
They are not inspiration.
They are practice support.

Remain steady.
Return tomorrow.
