A New Book
A new book has been published today: Koshin Reiki: A Complete System of Reiki Practice & Training.
This text presents the system of Reiki as it was taught to me by my teacher, John Harvey Gray, and as it has been practiced and carried forward within this lineage.
Koshin Reiki is a form of Usui Shiki Ryoho, transmitted through Hawayo Takata to John Gray, and from him to the students he trained. What is presented here reflects that transmission as it has been received and maintained over time.
The Structure of Practice
This book shows the structure of the practice.
Reiki is often encountered in parts. Hands-on treatment. Reiki meditation. The Precepts. Symbols. Each can be practiced on its own. Over time, it becomes clear that these are not separate. They function together as a single method of training.
This book lays out that relationship directly.
That understanding came through practice.
Recognition on Mount Kurama
More than thirty years after my training with John, I was sitting on Mount Kurama, in the temple known as the Hall of the Luminous Heart.
In that stillness, something returned with force.
I saw John clearly, standing in front of me as he had decades earlier, drawing two characters with his hand. 光心.
At the time, I had not understood what he showed me. I questioned it. I set it aside.
Sitting there, that moment came back in full clarity, and with it came a surge of light, unmistakable and direct. It was not a memory alone. It was a luminous experience.
In that moment, I recognized what I had received.
What John had been given by Takata, and what had been passed through him to me, was not a fragment. It was a transmission. It had been placed in my hands and carried for thirty years until I was able to see it.
I could feel the power of the initiating lineage itself. Not as an idea, but as something living, precise, and intact. I knew that this transmission would define my path in Reiki and shape everything I would carry forward.
The name Koshin arose from that recognition.
Not as something created, but as something named from what had already been given.
A Complete System
Each element of practice is described here within the whole: initiation, self-treatment, the Precepts, Reiki meditation, hands-on work, Mental Treatment, and the way these develop together through repeated practice over time.
The emphasis is on practice.
Reiki is learned through the hands, through attention, and through daily repetition. Over time, its function becomes clear through direct experience.
This book presents Reiki as a system of training.
It reflects how the practice is learned: through direct contact, repetition, and guidance from a teacher.
Why This Book
The intention in publishing this book is simple.
To make the structure of this practice visible, as it has been received in this lineage, and to provide a clear reference for those who are practicing it.
What is here is what was given, clarified through years of practice, and presented so it can be encountered directly.
